What is the difference between coaching, counseling/therapy and consulting?

There are similarities in that each look at complex situations while providing a professional relationship based upon trust, confidentiality, and are empowerment focused. The key differences are:

Coaching supports individuals with short-term problem solving and finding solutions through actionable steps and is task focused.  Coaching  is a partnership between the the coach and participant that focuses on the present and future  while considering "What is possible and How you can achieve your goal?"

Coaching services are Private Pay and  not covered by insurance.

I do not provide clinical psychotherapy nor do I diagnosis mental health conditions.  If you need more support with counseling services please do not hesitate to reach out to me and I can recommend services.

Counseling or Therapy treats and diagnoses psychological symptoms by developing a treatment plan.  Counseling focuses on relieving pain from past trauma.  Since Counseling focuses on the past it seeks to ask "What is the problem?".  Counseling services require a mental health diagnosis for payment by insurance.

Consulting provides analysis and solutions to an area of expertise.  Consulting can take on different tasks but generally provides improvement in organizational policy, best practice, and staff development.

Do you want to identify goals through in an action oriented plan?
